Muse

Have you lost your way,

is it too dark my dear,

or are you chasing rainbows

on a cloudless day.

If only you would stay here

my words could take flight

not be stuck in a dream

that goes away with morning light.

Words won't rhyme or flow

when I wake to write them down;

I fear your chasing rainbows

like you've done before.

While I struggle to find you

to pull the words from my heart and soul

I want to finish this time;

but I need an inspiration

only you can give,

to make a sad story strong.

No weeping or sorrow

never knowing if It will be tomorrow.

Hoping my words last for children

of my heart, and their children;

To last long after I breathe the ocean air

or bask in the desert sun

To tell you a story I want you all to know

one that you helped write.

Without your pull not sure the end

because the words will never leave

my heart, and soul.

And take flight chasing our rainbow

on a cloudless day,

never finding the pot of gold

never reaching the end

never able to write the chapter,

you know the happy end

Till I find my muse in early morning

waking me to write and softly touching me,

I will wallow in words that don't seem right

please find me muse and hold me tight.
